Hi, I'm Gina π
I was born in Venezuela, where the greatest joy is going to the beach β and looking beautiful doing it. That feeling never left me, and today it lives in every piece at Lolitas Taylor.
Where I come from
Before this brand existed, I spent years as a fashion buyer for department store chains, building women's and juniors' collections sold in stores nationwide. It taught me exactly what makes a woman fall for a piece β and exactly what mass production can never give her: something that feels like it was made for her, not for a rack of a thousand identical ones.
That's the gap Lolitas Taylor was built to close. Fabulous and comfortable at the same time, in a piece you won't see on ten other women at the beach β without the luxury markup.
Why "Lolitas"?
The credit goes to Ana, my best friend since we were teenagers. Back then, we called her "the terror of the scissors." I watched her cut up jeans, blouses, and dresses, reshaping anything she didn't love. Sometimes it worked beautifully. Sometimes... not so much. π
Ana turned that obsession into a career: she studied Fashion Design, founded her own swimwear label, and later moved with her family to Pescara, a lively coastal town in Italy's Abruzzo region. There, blending her Latin creativity with Italian craftsmanship, she created Ana Lascarro.
Then she called me with an idea: bring Lolitas to the USA. I added my married last name, and Lolitas Taylor was born.
Why limited edition matters
Each collection is capped at 150 pieces total, split across swimwear, resort wear, and beachwear β and within that, every individual print is limited to just 30 pieces. Once those 30 are gone, that design doesn't come back. So if you're wearing one, you can be sure you won't walk onto the beach and find your exact suit on someone else. That's not a policy; it's a promise.
Our solid, mix-and-match pieces are the exception on purpose: made to pair with every collection, always in stock, so you can keep building your look season after season.
The hands behind our bags
Every bag in our collection started with a search β and a little luck.
I was looking for handmade bags that matched the brand's spirit when I found a master artisan in Colombia who works with iraca palm, a natural fiber woven by hand using techniques passed down through generations. I ordered just a few pieces. When they arrived, I fell in love. So I did what any curious founder would do: I got on a plane.
I traveled to Colombia to meet SebastiΓ‘n and his team of artisans in person, to watch the weaving with my own eyes β and that trip changed the brand.
Looking for more techniques, I visited artisan fairs across Colombia, where I met the hands behind our macramΓ©, crochet, and Wayuu pieces. Many of the artisans I met at those fairs still work with me today.
Our Mexican bags have their own story: my friend Lupita connected me with artisans in Mexico who weave beautiful, durable bags from recycled plastic β proof that sustainable can also be stunning.
So when you carry one of our bags, you're not carrying a factory product. You're carrying hours of handwork, a technique with a history, and the livelihoods of real artisan families in Colombia and Mexico whom I've met myself. That's what handmade means to us. I'm still looking for artisans around the world and helping them show their art.
A promise from me to you
I read every message, every suggestion, every review β and your feedback shapes the collections I create next. This brand grows through the women who wear it.
Thank you for stopping to read my story. Your print is out there, one of only 30 β come find the one that's yours.
Hugs,
Gina Alvarado-Taylor,
Founder, Lolitas Taylor
